The two Vietnamese girls who went missing from York have been found safe and well.

Luong Phan, 15, and 14-year-old Tram Le, were last seen outside York Minster on Sunday (July 9).

This sparked a major search for the teenagers, who did not speak much English

On Friday night, one girl was found at an address in the Thames Valley area and the other was located in Bedfordshire.

Both girls are being returned to the care of local authorities.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said:

Our thanks go to everyone who shared our appeal and members of the public who called in with information.

The investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case continues.

Earlier on Friday a 28-year old man appeared in court charged with two counts of modern slavery in connection with the case.

He has been remanded in custody until Monday 17 July 2017.
