The two people who were killed while crossing the A64 last month have been named by police.
They are Charles McLaughlin, 53, and his wife Judith McLaughlin, 58, from Welburn.
All close relatives have now been informed.
The collision happened at around 10.55pm on Friday, June 23.
It is believed Mr and Mrs McLaughlin were crossing the road from north to south at a bus stop – near the junction to Welburn – when the collision occurred with a white Vauxhall Mokka that was travelling east towards Scarborough.
The couple were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police enquiries continue
The driver of the Vauxhall Mokka, a man aged in his 50s from the Wakefield area of West Yorkshire, and his wife in the passenger seat, were uninjured but suffered from shock following the collision.
Police closed the A64 in both directions until 3.35am on Saturday 24 June to allow a full investigation of the scene.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Witnesses or anyone who recalls seeing the man and woman or the white Vauxhall Mokka prior to the incident, are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police.

It was the second such tragedy in six weeks. Dave Tinker, 50, and Julie Gough, 52, died after being in collision with a black Renault minibus while crossing the A64 at Crambeck near Malton just before midnight on May 13.
