Floral tributes have been left to the York couple who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena bomb attack.

It was revealed on Wednesday that Angelika and Marcin Klis were on their way to collect their two daughters from the Ariana Grande concert when the suicide bomber struck.

Messages of condolences were left with the bouquets

People have been leaving flowers and messages outside the office of York Cars Taxis on Blossom Street, where Marcin worked as a driver.

Many of them included heartfelt messages. One from the staff at the nearby Sainsbury shop said: “You were taken too soon. Now you sing with the angels.”

Others said simply “Our thoughts are with you”.

Memorial in Poland

‘Such a tragic loss’

Meanwhile a memorial to the couple has been created in Darlowo, the town in Poland where Marcin Klis was from.

Candles were lit and flowers placed around a photograph of the couple in the town square, as reported by the website Naszemiasto.

Their friends back in Poland have described them as “wonderful people who were loved very much”.

Alex Klis, their eldest daughter, who attends York College, has posted a Facebook message thanking everyone for their messages of support.

She said:

Wanted to thank everyone for the supportive messages and posts.

I’m in no way being ignorant but with everything going on I don’t have the time to reply to everyone individually but I do appreciate them all so much x

Several crowdfunding campaigns are raising money for Alex and her younger sister, who goes to school in York.
