Radio York’s newest presenter completed his first show today (Saturday).
BBC Look North weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans has taken over the Saturday afternoon slot for the summer and clearly enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for the fabulous messages today, I loved my first show @BBCYork ! Back next week for more!

Owain’s show airs between 12pm and 3pm on Saturdays, the slot vacated over summer by the Match Day Live commentary. It features music and summer events in North Yorkshire.
Lots of giggles
From Ammanford in central Wales, Owain has been a television presenter since he was 18. He joined Look North as a weatherman in 2015 after doing the same role at BBC Wales.
“It’s a dream come true to have my own show,” Owain said of his Radio York gig.
“It’s going to be great to get to know my listeners and there’ll be loads of giggles along the way. I can’t wait.”
Editor of BBC Radio York Joe Pignatiello welcomed his new presenter.
He’s passionate, hilarious and flamboyant – I think we’ll all have a lot of fun listening to his new show.
Up for awards
Owain, who married his partner Aaran Rees in March, describes himself as a “ginger weather presenter by day and drummer by night. I’m not ashamed to say that my favourite thing to do is rocking up pop songs.”
He will continue to present the weather on Look North and Radio York. He is the second weather presenter to have his own show on Radio York after Kay Crewdson became the new breakfast presenter in February.
Owain is up for two gongs. He is in the vote to find Britain’s best weather presenter, and for the Positive Role Model (LGBT) honour in the National Diversity Awards.
Matchday Live will return to the station when the next football season starts in August.
BBC Radio York has said it is committed to continue live commentaries on York City despite their relegation to National League North.
