The one-day music festival will also feature The Slow Readers Club and The Glass Caves, and many others others.

After its successful first year where the people of York and those living further afield flocked to see headliners The Pigeon Detectives and The Sunshine Underground, Yorfest is back.

Event manager Si Roe said: “After our first festival where people enjoyed the great acts and bands basking in the sunshine, we’re pleased to say, we’re back! We’ve only gone and secured The Lightning Seeds and The Rifles.”

Music and more

Yorfest has two stages and over 24 live acts performing during the day, which is on the Bustardthorpe field, adjacent to York Racecourse.

Burgers and pizza will be on sale, there are two bars and York real ale micro-brewer Andy Herrington will be selling his popular Ainsty Ales.

Yorfest is only in its second year, arranged and run by local music lovers alongside their full time jobs.

With support from live music fans organisers hope it can become an annual event.

“People will not only be able to enjoy indie style popular music and great quality food, but also a relaxed atmosphere where they can let their hair down,” said Si.

Artists enjoy the day too. Performer Twinnie Lee Moore, who is headlining the acoustic stage said “I really can’t wait to play in my home town, what better way to promote my debut EP than at Yorfest.”

Yorfest is also supporting the amazing Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and the fantastic work of the St Leonard’s Hospice; a charity which is close to the hearts of all those involved.
