A York street was sealed off today after reports of a knife injury.
Hartoft Street, off Fishergate, was closed by police as officers investigated.
A police spokeswoman said:
Police were called by the ambulance service at around 9.45am today, Wednesday 14 September 2016, with reports that a man had suffered injuries from a bladed weapon.
The incident happened at a property in Hartoft Street, York.
The man, who is in his thirties, was initially taken to York Hospital. He was then transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where his condition is described as serious but stable.
“He was the only one injured,” explained Temporary Inspector Martin Metcalfe of York police.
A local resident told YorkMix:
It [Hartfort Street] isn’t a route into town. It’s just locals. No kind of outside riff raff.
The force spokeswoman said: “Police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”
Several emergency vehicles attended the incident. Once the ambulance left for the hospital, police reopened access to the Hartoft Street.
