The attestation ceremony for the latest intake of new Humberside Police student officers has taken place at Hull’s Guildhall.
Chief Constable Lee Freeman, said: “It was great to welcome 61 new police officers to Humberside Police.
“In the five years since I became Chief Constable, I am delighted to have been able to add an extra 750 officers, increasing numbers from 1,550 in 2017 to 2,300 today.
“We have listened to and understood the requirements of our communities, and this latest cohort of extra officers will be landing with our patrol teams across the East Riding, Hull and northern Lincolnshire later this year after finishing their initial training with us.”
The new student officers will now complete an intensive training programme to learn all aspects of police powers, legislation, how to respond to incidents and investigate crime.
They will also learn how to deal with victims, witnesses and suspects, as well as undergoing first-aid and officer safety training.
After this initial training period is completed, all 61 new officers will take to the streets for 10 weeks, accompanied by a tutor constable, after which they will be out in our communities on independent patrol.
