Fancy an electric bicycle at a big discount?
If you live in York, you’re in luck!
City of York Council has been awarded £133,040 from the Department for Transport to offer residents the chance to try an e-cycle before considering purchasing one at a discounted price.
The ‘E-Cycle Switch’ scheme offers anyone that lives, works or studies in York the opportunity to borrow an e-cycle from a participating local bike shop and trial it for seven days with no obligation to buy.
Once their trial is complete, participants will be eligible for a big discount off e-cycles at all participating bike shops.
|Participant||Discount||Maximum trial period|
|Residents, students and commuters*||£300||7 days|
|Job seekers or newly employed *||£600||28 days|
|Participants requiring inclusive e-cycles*||£800||7 days|
* Full eligibility details on the website
How can I take part?
Sign up for your free e-cycle trial via the iTravel website. Your chosen bike shop will then be in touch to make sure the e-cycle is just right for you and to arrange your e-cycle collection date.
Collect the e-cycle from your chosen bike shop and try it out for free.
There is no obligation to buy an e-cycle, but after your trial is complete you will be entitled to a £300 discount on a new e-cycle from our participating retailers. Some residents may be eligible for a larger discount. See website for details.
