A popular York city centre venue has been given a dramatic new look – and we’ve the pictures to prove it!
Family-owned bar and restaurant Ate O’Clock on High Ousegate has had a makeover. And it is now joined by its new lounge area Social 8.
The lounge comes with striking new lighting and a pastel pink bar.
Ate O’Clock owners Alex, Savas and Ali Adiguzel are keen to work with local suppliers. So they chose Skipwith-based Johnathon Morgan Design to reimagine the venue.
He has redesigned the space into “an iconic, modern place for those dining and drinking”.
“York is such an amazing city and we wanted to create a place for people to enjoy whether they live here or are visiting,” says Alex.
“The hospitality industry has had a trickly couple of years and we wanted to start again with a completely new look and feel, fitting to just how much we love this business.”
The venue has now reopened, with changes to the food offering, plus a brand new drinks menu for the Social 8 lounge.
Diners can now try scallops with black pudding bon bons or chocolate delice. Meanwhile, those visiting the lounge area can choose between a lemon cheesecake cocktail and a range of draught beers.
Alex said: “Food is obviously very important too, so a lot of time has been spent with the chefs, making sure the menus are delicious, relevant, and tempting.
“Same goes for the drinks, which have been created with a mixologist so they taste delicious and can be enjoyed with food or in the lounge area.”
Most of the original staff have returned now it has reopened.
Future plans include hosting live music evenings and quiz nights, building a community of regular guests.
