18 fab pictures showing how police got into the Tour de France spirit
Like the rest of us, the police are recovering from an epic weekend in Yorkshire.
Hundreds of local officers, PCSOs, Special Constables, police staff and volunteers worked the Tour de France weekend.
And in additional to their duties, police played a big part in making this a fun and memorable couple of days.
“They really got into the spirit of this unique, almost carnival-like sporting event,” said Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Ken Mcintosh.
“The overwhelmingly positive reaction from the spectators and the touching comments on social media spoke volumes about the policing style we adopted for the Tour de France.”

The police were high fiving everyone
And offering a seat on their bikes
Although other forms of transport were available
Police made friends around the route…
…signed up some new recruits…
…and regularly went bananas
But always maintained a dignified presence
Before having a sit down…
…and a nice cup of tea
