Glorious weather, hundreds of riders, and a TV star – the Great Selby Bike Ride was back this weekend.
The annual fundraising cycle event around Selby and district took place yesterday (Sunday) and it was a great day had by all.
With over 170 riders taking part and brilliant sunshine all day, the event was a great success. Organised by the Elmet Lions Club, the cycle was raising money for four different charities: Martin House, British Heart Foundation, St Leonard’s Hospice, and Macmillan Cancer Care.
And YorkMix Radio were there! Presenter Victoria Charles was broadcasting live from the bike ride. She was joined by TV presenter and journalist Christine Talbot, formerly the main presenter on ITV News Calendar.
The day was open to everyone, with families encouraged to participate. The race started at Barlby High School and there were two routes to choose from – either a 25 mile or 45 mile ride.
The first rider back was Simon Rider from Lyon Squad Cycling, who completed the 25 mile route in 1 hour and 25 minutes.
Thank you to everyone who took part and made it such a fantastic day!
