These are just some of the irresistible attractions at York Literature Festival 2019, which is packed with talks, performances, stories and tours.
The fest runs from 15-31 March, and among the big-names taking part this year are Joanna Trollope, crime supremo Mark Billingham and novelist Kate Mosse.

Two top politicians are part of the mix. MP, diarist, and acute observer Chris Mullins is here to talk about political disasters. Former Home Secretary Alan Johnson, meanwhile, will be talking musical memories.
And the festival is launched by Daisy Johnson, the youngest writer ever to be shortlisted for the prestigious Man Booker prize.
