In its 59th year – the first concert was held in the Tempest Anderson Hall in December 1958 – it brought together musicians of all ages in a celebration of this special time of year.
Among the sell-out 1,400-strong audience was the Lord Mayor of York Cllr Dave Taylor and the civic party.
Raising money for the Lord Mayor’s Christmas Cheer fund and city mental health charity York Mind, the concert epitomised the season of giving.
Among the performers were the Shepherd Group Concert Brass Band, the Military Wives Choir York, Steve Cassidy, Huntington Primary Academy Choir, Lord Deramore Primary School Choir and Archies Boys Aloud.
The host once again was Andrew Foster, while assistant musical director Mike Pratt conducted the community carols.
Musical director John Warburton also took up the baton for his 38th appearance at the concert.
