Following the sell-out event in 2023, the York Proms picnic concert will return this summer for its spectacular mix of marvellous music and fabulous fireworks.
The concert takes place at Museum Gardens on Sunday 28 July with a spectacular show of classical favourites, film music, operatic greats, show songs and a fireworks finale, to get the audience waving their flags and singing along.
Announcing the first of the sponsors secured for the event, founder Rebecca Newman revealed Make It York were one of the event sponsors for the first time.
Managing director of Make it York Sarah Loftus said: “York Proms has become a must see in York’s event and culture calendar, and we are delighted to be able to support this year.
“It is set to be a great day out, where both residents and visitors are able to enjoy wonderful musical talent right in the centre of our fantastic city.”
This year, the York Proms will team up with YorkMix as their media partner.
Rebecca says: “Choosing a media partner is an essential part of such a large scale event and opens up many opportunities for promotion, community engagement and, not least, fun!
“YorkMix is a very energetic and forward-thinking company who have given the York Proms, and me, personally, through my singing career, a lot of support over the years.
“They have a strong community ethos, which I find extremely important to find in every partner I choose for the York Proms.”
Returning as sponsors for this year are Inglis Chartered Accountants and Fulprint, leaving only one Silver Level sponsor still to be secured.
Rebecca says “I am so pleased to see sponsors choosing to return again and thank them for their support, which helps the event to continue into the future and also to grow.
“We also have Ainsty Ales returning to run the bar, which is the third year the company has been involved.”
Rebecca said: “We are talking to some businesses at the moment to secure the final sponsorship packages, including the headline sponsor, but any local businesses and organisations that might be interested in taking a package can get in touch via the sponsors page on yorkproms.com.”
The programme for this year will see a variety of music, including well known and loved classical pieces, iconic film music, famous operatic arias and some show songs, followed by the usual ‘Last Night of the Proms’ style finale with fireworks.
