These dramatic photographs show firefighters tackling a large blaze last night (Monday).
Both fire engines from Malton Fire Station were called out to a large haystack on fire near Whitwell On The Hill, between York and Malton.
The pictures, shared on the Malton Fire Station Facebook page, show the scale of the blaze.
The post said: “On arrival of Malton Blue Watch, they found a large fire involving straw bales, a telehandler and a trailer which also had straw bales on.
“One hose reel jet was used to protect the trailer from catching fire, and a telehandler from another farmer was used to remove the burning straw stacks from it.
“Approximately 10,000 litres of water was used to prevent the fire from spreading.”
Fire crews remained at the incident through the night to make sure the straw burns safely and dose not effect any surrounding buildings.
