Something exciting is flying into the Grand Opera House York next month…

York-based theatre company York Stage are bringing the West End smash-hit musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang to the Grand Opera House this Easter.

Can the loveable but whacky inventor, Potts, along with his two children and the gorgeous Truly Scrumptious outwit the bombastic Baron Bomburst who has decreed that all children be banished from his kingdom?

What happens when the evil Childcatcher is sent out to capture the children? Will it all end happily-ever-after?

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is at the Grand Opera House from Thursday 6 to Saturday 15 April 2023.

York Stage’s recent productions have included Kinky Boots, Elf and Shrek the Musical.

The show will be directed by Nik Briggs, with musical direction from Adam Tomlinson and choreography by Damien Poole.

The cast includes Ned Sprouston as Caractacus Potts, Carly Morton as Truly Scrumptious, Mick Liversidge as Grandpa, and Richard Barker as the Childcatcher.

With music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, the musical features the iconic songs such as ‘Toot Sweets’, ‘Hushabye Mountain’, ‘Truly Scrumptious’, and of course the titular ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’.

This production promises laughs and magic galore – and Chitty herself live on stage! Don’t miss your chance to see this fantasmagorical musical.

Tickets start from £13 and are available here.
