A York teenager was hit by a car that drove off after the collision.
The incident happened at 1.50pm last Thursday (March 8). An orange car struck the 15-year-old boy in the street, causing a fractured ankle.
The driver stopped and spoke briefly with the casualty but then drove away without leaving their details.
The boy is receiving treatment for his injury and is likely to require surgery to repair the fracture.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said:
We are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.
In particular, we are appealing for the driver of the vehicle in question to contact North Yorkshire Police as soon as possible.
