A York city centre pub will reopen this month after undergoing a £303,000 transformation.
What was sports bar The Terrace will open its doors on Monday, 24 July – complete with its original 1958 name reinstated: The Stonebow.
The interior of the pub, on the corner of Fossgate, will have been ‘revitalised throughout’ and the pub’s beer garden is also being revamped.
As the Terrace, it was a popular sports bar. And sports fans will still be catered for, say its owners the Stonegate Group.
Live action will be shown on the new HD TV screens, located throughout the pub, the garden and new booths.
Taking charge of the Stonebow is general manager Yorkshire lad Joe Sophocleous.
Joe said: “I’m excited to bring my experience and love for hospitality to The Stonebow and become a part of the local community.
“We want The Stonebow to be a place where you can relax, socialise, and have a great time with friends and family as well as a place to watch all sporting events.
“We are a pub for all, and as a dog lover myself, I’m pleased to inform you that we will be a dog-friendly establishment, both inside and outside.”
To celebrate the reopening, Joe and his team will be hosting a launch party across the weekend of 28 July, with lots of live music.
On Friday, there will be live music from The Dalton Blues Duo from 7pm and more live blues artists performing throughout the night.
A DJ will provide the tunes from 7pm on Saturday. And on Sunday, the pub welcomes The Wreck Liners performing country tunes from 4pm.
