York Pride is back this summer – but first they’re having a ball!

To help raise funds for the main event – which will take place on Saturday 3 June 2023 at York Racecourse – York Pride have announced a series of fundraising events.

The events will include a charity ball, a special cruise down the Ouse, and the return of a York Pride staple.

Greg Stephenson, chair of York Pride said: “York Pride is North Yorkshire’s most popular Pride event and in the current climate, costs are rising and we need to raise funds. However, we are determined to deliver another fantastic event.

“We also recognise that Pride should not only be about a single day, and the events programme launched this year allows us to celebrate and come together more frequently with members of the LGBTQ+ community, our allies, friends and supporters.”

York Pride’s event programme starts with the first York Pride Annual Charity Ball – where guests will enjoy a sparkling reception with canapés, a 2 course meal, live entertainment.

The charity ball will be held at the Hilton in York on Saturday 11 March, with tickets now on sale for £60 per person.

Other events confirmed are ‘Cruising down the Ouse’, in partnership with City Cruises York, on Sunday 4 June.

It will involve a three hour cruise down the river Ouse, with a food, drinks and DJ.

The event will serve as the official closing party for the Pride weekend.

This year will also see the return of ‘Outrageous’ – which used to be a staple event in the community on Friday evenings – for one night only. The date for this event is yet to be confirmed.

For LGBT+ History Month, which runs throughout February, York Pride are also working with York Castle Museum for a tour of the museum and learning about the city’s queer history on 21 February, and also with Barley Hall for a coffee morning on 26 February.

More exciting event announcements are expected – watch this space!
