The show will go on! Live music will fill the air at York Racecourse next weekend as Sounds in the Grounds can still go ahead.
Despite the announcement that Covid restrictions are being extended, the three-day music extravaganza is an outdoor music event that complies with current Covid-19 guidelines with its socially-distanced picnic patches.
So the fun doesn’t have to be postponed!
The event will take place in the Clocktower Enclosure of York Racecourse on the 25, 26 and 27 June.

With only 10 days to go, the bands are rehearsing, the Clocktower Enclosure is mown and the crew are preparing to install the stage, lighting and sound for the three Sounds in the Grounds concerts:
Friday 25 June – Beyond the Barricade – past principals from Les Misérables perform showstoppers from the world’s greatest musicals.
Saturday 26 June – ABBA MANIA – direct from a critically-acclaimed three-week season re-opening London’s West End, the world’s number one touring ABBA tribute with platforms, flares and all your favourites.
Sunday 27 June – A Country Night in Nashville – direct from a performance at the Royal Albert Hall this month, a true celebration of country music, with hits from its biggest stars both past and present.
Homegrown talent
Also returning by popular demand, are York’s very own The New York Brass Band who will be the support act for each concert.
Producer James Cundall said, “Without doubt the New York Brass Band is one of York’s best exports and it will be wonderful to get them on stage in their home city.
“Importantly it’s an opportunity for both musicians and crew to showcase their talent again after months of inactivity during these difficult times.”

Audiences can look forward to kicking back and enjoying three summer evenings of live entertainment – from the safety of their own designated picnic patch.
James Cundall added, “These picnic concerts are a great opportunity to get together and enjoy a fun night of live music in a safe, socially distanced way.
“I hope we have something for everyone.”
