York hosts three fun festivals this weekend – and it’s set to be warm and sunny too.
No wonder Michael Hjort declares: “York is having one very lucky weekend!”
The three festivals are
- York Food & Drink Festival
- York Creatives Night Market
- The Gin & Rum Festival.
“All three events are walking distance from each other and based in the city centre,” said Michael, the food fest director.
And if you’re full after all that food and drink, why not join the York Walking Festival, which starts tomorrow?
York Food & Drink Festival runs for a whopping ten days in Parliament Street, Coppergate Centre and Museum Gardens starting from today (Friday) and finishing on Sunday 26 September.
Expect to see demonstrations from Masterchef finalists & York’s best chefs, Yorkshire produce, tastings and hands-on cookery throughout the day. Street food, bars and live music continue until 9pm.
York Creatives are launching their night market tonight (Friday). Running for just one evening from 7pm to 10:30pm it offers the chance to see a huge amount of art and music from York based artists as they take over Shambles Market.
The Gin & Rum Festival runs on Saturday with over 60 different gins and 60 different rums to try. There are two sessions available – an afternoon session from 12:30 pm until 4:30pm and evening session from 6:30pm to 11pm.
The founder of the Gin and Rum Festival, Bobby Nanua, said: “I am delighted to have the Gin and Rum Festival inside the stunning York Minster! After the success we had in 2019, selling out the festival in over 30 cities, we’re so excited to be back.”
York Food Festival and York Creatives Night Market both are free entry. Gin & Rum Festival tickets are only £15 and include a Copa glass, satchel and reusable straw.
Tickets for Gin & Rum and more information for all three events can be found on the programme page on the York Food and Drink Festival website.
