York is back! Apple finally cures iPhone bug that relocated city to ‘Milby’
Good news – York is back!
YorkMix reported how baffled iPhone and Apple Mac users found that they had been relocated to ‘Milby’ in various apps.
In the Maps app, the address for York Minster was suddenly given as ‘Precentor’s Court, Milby’. People using everything from Tinder to Pokemon Go also found they were no longer in York but Milby – which in reality is a small hamlet near Boroughbridge.
We were first alerted to the problem on 8 February. When we contacted Apple, they said they were aware of the problem which was caused by a software bug. And they were working to resolve it.
But the issue remained. A woman driver told us that after her car broke down, she alerted the breakdown team at Green Flag via their app – and they too were directed to Milby.
Finally, last night (Wednesday), a spokesperson for Apple got back in touch. “This should all be fixed and sorted out now,” he said.
We have checked and – yes! – city addresses are given as York, not Milby. The glitch in the Matrix has been fixed. As you were.
About time too I was using my debit card and it was coming up Milby now it’s all changed to York.
