The return of York Ice Trail is nearly here – this year with a time travelling theme.

Meet some iconic York historical figures such as Anne Lister and Dick Turpin, travel 20,000 leagues under the Ouse, discover a Coppergate Viking, glimpse the growth of the future – and much more in this free and family-friendly weekend.

York Ice Trail 2023 will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 February from 10am.

YorkMix Radio’s sculpture last year

Last year, YorkMix Radio had an ice sculpture in the trail for the first time – and now for this year, we’re back with another competition!

Head down to Parliament Street to see our Cash-asaurus T-Rex, where coins will be frozen inside the dinosaur sculpture.

We’ll be inviting people to guess how much cash has been frozen inside the Cash-asaurus with one lucky person winning £1,000!

Other highlights this year include live ice carving over at St Sampson’s Square, magic and mythology at Middletons Hotel with sculptures from York Gin, City Cruises and Potions Cauldron – and the free to download York Quest app will bring some of York’s famous history to life!
