A York hotel has big plans for 2025 after enjoying a bumper first Christmas after its big rebrand.
Milner York says it enjoyed a ‘record-breaking’ December following the hotel’s change from The Principal York weeks earlier.
Weekend occupancy rates exceeded 2023, with more than 6,500 overnight guests staying at the hotel in December.
New initiatives, including live pianist performances, saw festive afternoon tea covers increase by 20% year-on-year, with guests indulging in seasonal twists on the hotel’s already popular Chocolate Afternoon Tea experience.
And both the Milner’s restaurants, Peachey’s Bar & Grill and The Oak Room, were fully booked for Christmas lunches, marking an increase from the previous year.
Meanwhile, Christmas party bookings were in high demand, with the hotel’s 11 meetings and events spaces regularly operating at full capacity, including two weddings in December.
Victoria Poole, director of sales at The Milner York said: “This festive season has been a testament to the spirit and dedication of our team as we delivered record-breaking results, despite some challenging weather conditions during December.
“As we celebrated our first Christmas as The Milner York, we were overwhelmed by the warm reception from our guests and the local community. It’s been a privilege to celebrate this milestone with them, and we look forward to building on this success in 2025.”
Comments from guests left on the ‘Milner Memory Tree’ over Christmas praised the “amazing staff” and “exceptional food”.
This year The Milner York plans to expand its food and drink offerings and introduce regular live music performances, among other new experiences. Victoria said: “Watch this space.”
