Esmerelda the horse is safe and sound thanks in part to the work of York firefighters.
They were called to Escrick at 3.01pm today (Sunday) after reports that she had become trapped in her horse box.
An animal rescue team from Tadcaster also went to the scene.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews found the 12 year old horse called Esmeralda had become trapped by her front legs over the partition.
“Crews assisted in releasing the horse before leaving her in the care of her owner and a vet.”
