A driver has been arrested after a crash which left a woman with multiple serious injuries.
The collision happened shortly before 4.20pm on Good Friday (7 April) at the junction of Alne Road with Youlton Lane in Alne, also known as Plague Crossroads.
As YorkMix reported, the two-car collision saw both vehicles catch fire.
Now police have released more details. The two cars involved were a Subaru Impreza and a Ford Fiesta.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “A woman passenger in the Ford Fiesta sustained multiple serious life-changing injuries, and remains in hospital in a serious, but stable, condition.
Where the crash happened
“The driver of the Ford Fiesta sustained a broken wrist.
“A child passenger in the Subaru Impreza sustained a head injury but has now been released from hospital.
“The driver of the Subaru Impreza, a 31-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.”
The road was closed for six hours so officers could investigate the scene and allow the vehicles to be recovered.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and information about the crash.
“We are appealing for witnesses to the collision, or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle or vehicles prior to the collision, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation,” the spokesperson said.
