**This competition is now closed**

What happens if you combine Britain’s number one fish and chip shop with the best steam railway in the country?

You get a fabulous ride through magnificent countryside, courtesy of the North York Moors Railway, with the finest fish supper courtesy of Quayside of Whitby on your return trip.

It’s known as the Quayside Express.

Every Friday this summer, through till October 31, passengers can hop on-board the Quayside Express between Pickering and Whitby and enjoy a scrumptious fish supper, complete with Quayside’s famous homemade batter, sustainable fish and mushy peas, on the return trip from the seaside town.

To book tickets go to the NYMR website.

You could enjoy this treat on us, as we have five pairs of tickets to give away, worth up to £63 a pair. See below to enter.

“We feel privileged to have been able to join forces with such a prestigious heritage railway to offer this special service to holidaymakers and visitors,” says Carol Fusco, founder of Quayside fish and chip shop and restaurant, named ‘Best in Britain’ in the National Fish and Chip Awards 2014.

“Day trippers can take in the sea air, stroll along the beach and work up an appetite for a slap-up fish and chip dinner on the last train home!”

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway offers visitors a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and step back in time to a bygone area and sink into a more relaxed style of life as you meander through the North York Moors National Park and to the coast on board a steam engine.

“Fish was transported by rail, by the tonne from Whitby harbour in the early 20th century in order to fuel London’s fish and chip shops,” says Danielle Ramsey, marketing manager at the NYMR.

“Since then, ‘fish and chips specials’ have been a long tradition on the railways so it’s fantastic to be reinstating such an old tradition with the help of Britain’s best chippie.”
