Hi folks, YorkMix tipster Turpin here, at your service.

After a great first day of the John Smith’s meeting – three winners tipped, and some healthy placed selections too – I reckon we are in just the right form to really smash those bookies today.

Nap today is Husbandry in the fifth (4.00), something of a no-brainer for those who witnessed his close defeat at Salisbury; there is much more to come.

Surely the Andrew Balding colt has the class to defeat this field.

If you follow Kevin Ryan, who has a remarkable record in this 6-furlong event, you’ll be tempted by his very costly newcomer, Mont Kiara.

Watch the betting market closely for clues. It should be between those two. A forecast bet may be the solution.

The main event, the John Smith’s Cup (3.25), sees Luca Cumani and William Haggas each fielding two, with our own Mark Johnston having a three-horse entry.

But Turpin turns to the canny Saeed Bin Suroor to deliver the goods at a cracking price with First Flight. He is the win selection, but should represent good each-way value too.

We didn’t see the best of him stuck behind Mahsoob at Royal Ascot. But Knavesmire’s galloping track should be ideal and we are optimistic of a huge result on the biggest day of the year so far…

Who knows? Turpin may even do well enough to give up this highwayman lark.

It’s day one of the two-day John Smith’s Cup meeting at Knavesmire, and YorkMix tipster Dick Turpin has been hard at work gleaning that essential insider information to help you bash the bookies…

In the first (1.45), it is hard to oppose Ajaya, the likely short-priced favourite, following his impressive showing in last month’s Norfolk Stakes.

But there is a strong Middleham whisper for Mark Johnston’s Irish-bred newcomer Powderhorn.

The fillies Summer Stakes (2.55), a Group 3 contest, promises to answer several questions.

Was Interception‘s brilliant Wokingham win just a flash in the pan? Will Kiyoshi, also on a mark of 110, be able to recapture her 2013 Royal Ascot form?

Might Spinatrix or Newsletter spring a surprise at longish odds?

Turpin has no doubt: the answer to those questions will be delivered by the Baker-Lanigan team when Interception powers home to land his Nap selection.

The Ryan team’s Bogart (4.00), is a previous Knavesmire winner, and is Turpin’s ‘next best’ selection.
