Martha Hill w/s Ruth Lyon

Wed Oct 27 @ 7.30 pm

Newcastle’s Martha Hill releases the ‘Dog Hearted Man’ EP, a six -track collection that includes new single ‘151’, as well as previous single ‘Change’, which received its first play as Jack Saunders’ “Next Wave’ on BBC Radio 1, saw Martha featured as Annie Mac’s ‘New Name’ and picked up support from Spotify’s New Music Friday, BBC 6Music, The Independent and The Line of Best Fit.

‘151’, the new single from the EP is Martha at her best. An irresistible chorus and bold instrumentation support Martha’s charismatic vocals. The track is about the shared house Martha used to live in and had slightly unexpected origins, as Martha explains;

“I actually originally wrote this track as a drum and bass tune (haha, would love to get it remixed!) about 3 years ago, but it’s since evolved into this sort of bigger, almost “big band” influenced track. 151 is a big communal house I used to live in in Newcastle, and then my girlfriend at the time later lived there which is when I wrote the song. The house has been kicking about for at least 20 years, and pretty much everyone has done at stint there at some time or another.”

In celebration of the EP’s release, Martha has been working with a local brewery Two By Two Brewing to produce a ‘Dog Hearted Man’ Pale Ale. Described as a “a super easy drinking pale ale in a hazy hoppy style”, the beer is available in all good bottle shops as of today.

In support of the ‘Dog Hearted Man’ EP, Martha has also announced a 10-date tour of the UK in October this year, taking in York on 27th October and Hull on 28th October as part of UTI’s 19th Birthday celebrations.
