dave-taylor-headshotIn the latest of our series looking towards the highlights of 2013, Dave Taylor selects half a dozen highlights of the cinematic year ahead

Django Unchained

As an unreconstructed Tarantino fan, I have to start with this revenge Western starring Jamie Fox, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio.

A horror-drama with not a ‘Bram’ in sight. After India’s father dies, her Uncle Charlie, comes to live with her and her unstable mother (Nicole Kidman). She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him.

The Look Of Love

look-of-loveSteve Coogan was undoubtedly made to play the part of London porn baron turned property millionaire Paul Raymond. Great British cast directed by Michael Winterbottom.

The Great Gatsby

Baz Luhrmann will undoubtedly create a lavish remake of F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan in the starring roles. Let’s hope he can pull it off!

Jack The Giant Slayer

Modern-day fairytale and action adventure as a young farmer leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom in hopes of rescuing a kidnapped princess. Directed by The Usual Suspects‘ Bryan Singer.

I, Frankenstein

ifrankensteinDeveloped from the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, Frankenstein’s creature finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans. Includes a deliciously gothic role for Bill Nighy.
