Regulars at a York pub were surprised and delighted to meet the new barman last night.
Because he was stand up and TV star Tom Rosenthal.
Tom, best known for playing Johnny in Channel 4 favourite Friday Night Dinner, was serving in The Falcon on Micklegate.
He was covering a shift at the bar as part of a new adventure that is set to take him around the world.
Tom, who also starred in ITV’s Plebs, is writing a book called Around The World In 80 Favours. He is attempting to cross the world without paying for travel.
The rule is anyone who helps him on a leg of his journey will be repaid with a favour considered by both parties to be of equal value.
And his favour last night was to cover a shift at the Falcon.
He arrived at the Falcon after carrying out another favour – Hoovering the car of a family in Carlisle.
Tom was praised for pouring a “perfect” pint of Disco King in the Falcon.
The pub reopened last November after a major refurbishment. It is owned by Cameron Brown and Aron McMahon who run the Turning Point Brewery in Knaresborough.
The historic hostelry closed in 2018. When it reopened in a smaller size, it came complete with 11 holiday flats at the back.
