York’s new hotel has arrived – complete with the long-awaited Sora Sky Bar.
And Malmaison York doesn’t disappoint.
The rooftop terrace delivers extraordinary views across the city, with views of York Minster, the river, city walls, station – and much more.
Former Aviva staff who worked in the building before its transformation will struggle to recognise the old place.
The 150-bedroom Malmaison York was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of York Chris Cullwick, ably assisted by city town crier Ben Fry.
It has a modern, swish look. It boasts its own Starbucks and some nifty business booths. Victoria Charles broadcast her YorkMix Radio show live from one of these today.
There are ground floor bars and the Chez Mal restaurant.
And a dedicated lift that takes you to the seventh floor – home of the Sora Sky Bar.
As our video shows, this is going to be the must-see nightspot, and tables are being snapped up in advance.
Take a look around!
