Ward funding applications are now being invited
Local voluntary groups looking for funding now have a chance to submit their applications for 2013-14 ward funding.
Each Residents’ Forum (previously called Ward Committee) has a budget from which grants can be given to not for profit groups who meet certain criteria. Residents’ Forum funding is intended to help local communities improve the places residents live in. Each ward has set priorities for 2013-14 and ward budgets will be used to fund projects that help to achieve those priorities.
Ward Councillors will look at applications at ward team meetings and will make recommendations as to whether they wish to support the application. These will then be passed to the Director of Communities and Neighbourhoods for final approval.
Examples of successful projects from the past include: a grant to Friends of West Bank Park to help fund their annual summer fair, a grant to Dunnington Scout and Guide Group for maintenance of the scout and guide hall, a grant to the Friends of Acomb Wood for an information notice board and a grant to Beekeepers Club to purchase sporting equipment.
