Bees and other pollinators are vital for the planet – sadly, though, they’re in decline.
But anyone with a garden can do their bit to boost the bugs. And there’s a free talk in York to tell you how.
How To Make Your Garden Pollinator Friendly takes place at 2pm this Friday (27 August) at Exhibition Square.
It’s being put on by the York BID as part of their Buzz About York project, which has been bringing more pollinators into the city.
The talk, by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, is in front of the York meadow – an area of wildflowers which have encouraged bees, butterflies and more pollinators to drop in.
For Buzz About York, the BID have created Britain’s biggest bee-friendly floral display.
There are more than 200 planters filled exclusively with bee-friendly plants across the city centre.
And there are ‘bug hotels’ shaped like iconic York buildings dotted around York.
