Heavy rain is causing issues in the west of North Yorkshire.

Our main picture from Bez Beresford who rescued a driver stranded on the A684 at Appersett near Hawes.

He also posted dashcam footage of the terrible conditions.

The fire service is warning drivers not to venture into flood water.

The Fire service says it’s been dealing with a number of incidents where people have put their lives at risk by driving through flood water

Group Manager Bob Hoskins says they do say the same thing every year but still people get caught out and need the assistance of Fire crews.

He warns fast flowing flood water at fords can carry a vehicle off the road and into deeper water. Standing water can quickly immobilise an engine leaving occupants sitting in their cars in freezing conditions.

He says please do not move or ignore road closed signs.
