York City’s hard-fought draw with an in-form Kidderminster Harriers showed the team’s character.

So said City manager Martin Gray after the game.

“We’ve played against a very good, strong Kidderminster team,” he told YorkMix. “They have a style of play that does very well for them.

“Looking at the opposition’s performance today we’re delighted that we came away with a real good point.”

“When we went 1-0 down it was probably their first or second shot. It’s a good finish, and we showed good character to get back in the game with a superb free kick by Jon Parkin.”

He was quick to praise goalkeeper Adam Bartlett, named man of the match by sponsors Benenden.

“He’s as important as what a centre forward is. He’s there to do that, he’s there to make saves – he did his job well.

“He’s one of the best at this level and above and he proved that today.”
