Tom Taylor, host of the Sitting Room Comedy Club, introduces the acts on this week
Following a successful opening night in November, Sitting Room Comedy Club is returning to the Best Western Monkbar Hotel, York on Thursday, January 17.
This month sees three more of the circuit’s leading comedians, Junior Simpson, Luke Benson and Carly Smallman.
Junior Simpson
Junior Simpson is a sought after headliner across the UK and internationally. Additionally, he is a regular contributor to the topical Cutting Edge Team at the Comedy Store and can boast appearances on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Live at Jongleurs, Harry Hill’s TV Burp and countless other seminal comedy programmes. Though his most famous, or infamous, appearance has to be as the wedding DJ in Love Actually.
Luke Benson
A finalist in four of the country’s leading comedy competitions – the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year, Amused Moose Laugh Off, Mirth Control New Act Competition and Leicester Square Theatre New Act of the Year – Luke is one of the most talked about young acts on the circuit and has been selected by ‘London is Funny’ as one of the top ten acts to look out for.
Carly Smallman
Carly has been described as “fantastic” by Rob Brydon and, as a result, was invited to perform on The Rob Brydon Show. Her unique brand of love songs are a sure-fire hit.
- The show is on Thursday, January 17 at the Monkbar Hotel. It begins at 8pm with the bar serving drinks from 7.30pm.
- Tickets are priced at £10 in advance or £12 on the door – with a discount being offered to students – and are available from the Monkbar Hotel reception on 01904 638086 or from the Sitting Room website
