Police have sealed off an area in front of a prominent building in York city centre this morning (Wednesday).
The area in front of Grays Solicitors on Duncombe Place is behind tape. Its front door is within the cordon.
It is in connection with an investigation into a sexual assault.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were contacted at 6am today (Wednesday 7 June) with a report of a sexual assault which had taken place at Duncombe Place in York.
“Officers have attended the scene and a cordon has been set up.
“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody.”
Two police officers and a police car remain at the scene.
The office is next to the Boer War Memorial and open space and just yards from York Minster.
Staff are being allowed in to the building by the side door.
Pedestrians and road traffic are unaffected.
