Update – Police identify York robbery victim and arrest a suspect

Detectives in York investigating a robbery, have identified the victim and made an arrest in connection with the investigation.

It occurred in the beer garden of the Crystal Palace public house, Holgate Road, at 2pm on Friday 18 October 2013.

A 32-year-man from York, who was the victim of the robbery, contacted the police to report the incident on Saturday 19 October 2013, following coverage in local media.

As a result of police enquiries, a 33-year-old man from Hartlepool, Cleveland, was arrested on Sunday 20 October 2013, at his home address. He is currently in police custody.

Police urge York robbery victim to come forward

Detectives investigating a robbery in York are appealing for the man who was the victim to contact them.

It occurred in the beer garden of the Crystal Palace public house, Holgate Road, at 2pm on Friday 18 October 2013.

The man entered the beer garden with another man and a woman. They spoke with each other before the victim was head-butted and some of his property was taken. The suspect then left the premises with the woman.

After the robbery the victim remained on the ground for some time before getting to his feet and leaving the pub.

The victim is described as being a white man, aged around 30, approximately 6ft tall, with a slim build and dark hair. At the time he was wearing a lumberjack style jacket, red hooded top, blue jeans and black shoes.

The suspect is described as white, with a medium build, aged about 30 and short brown hair. He was wearing a navy blue coat and blue jeans.

The woman is approximately 5ft 4in tall with long dark hair and was wearing a white body warmer, blue jeans and pink shoes.

The robbery came to light when the landlord was reviewing CCTV.

Detective Inspector Alan Rowan, of York CID, said: “I am concerned that the victim may have suffered a serious injury and urge him to get in touch with the police straight away.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who can help to identify him or has any information about the man responsible for the robbery and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”
