Two people were rescued by firefighters after a blaze at their home trapped them in an upstairs room.
The fire was at a house in Leeside, York. Emergency services were contacted at 12.38am on Friday (December 4) and fire crews were sent from Acomb and York stations.
Before their arrival the control operator gave fire survival advice over the phone to the occupiers trapped in the bedroom.
Fire crews rescued a man and a woman from the first floor using ladders. Both casualties were taken to hospital for a “provisional check up”.
The cause of the fire still being investigated.
