Two people have been arrested over multiple shop thefts in York.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Following extensive enquiries by the Neighbourhood Policing Team and other colleagues here in York, two people have been arrested, and charged with dozens of offences, the majority of which relate to alleged shop thefts.”
They appeared at York Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday) and are due to stand trial next month.
The spokesperson said: “We recognise the impact that shoplifting in our city has on retailers, staff, and the wider community, and are doing everything we can to tackle it.
