Firefighters were called to two fires in separate York woods last night.
At 7.56pm, a York crew put out a fire in Knavesmire Wood.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Crews extinguished the fire and dampened down the area using buckets of water.
“Advice was given to youths in the area.”
Then at 10.44pm, Acomb firefighters went to a wooded area off Nelsons Lane.
“Crews located a small fire that had been lit deliberately by youths,” the spokesperson said. “Crews extinguished the fire using two backpack sprayers.”
