Two drivers suffered serious injuries in a crash which closed a road in North Yorkshire.

The incident happened shortly before 5pm yesterday (Thursday) on Dishforth Road, Sharow, east of Ripon.

That road was closed for some time as emergency services responded.

Roads police officer Sgt Paul Cording gave an update on Twitter: “The road has reopened following the earlier RTC involving two cars. Both drivers have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Thank you to those who stopped to assist and my 999 family colleagues for their assistance.”
