A popular pop-up bar has launched in York city centre – with a TV star chef one of the guests.
Thor’s is back on Parliament Street with lots of street food options to go with the beers and cocktails.
To celebrate ten years of Thor’s, they’ve teamed up with award-winning, Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks, owner of Roots York and one of the stars of the BBC’s Great British Menu.
Tommy was a special guest at the launch of Thor’s last night (Friday).
His team have created a bespoke menu to their street food, including beef tartare, a fan-favourite from his Michelin-starred The Black Swan at Oldstead and kimchi fried chicken from award-winning pub The Abbey Inn, Byland.
There’ll also be a selection from Tommy’s Pie Shop after its successful launch at York’s Christmas market.
Tommy said: “I’m really excited to be part of Thor’s this summer. York really comes alive in the warmer months, and it’s such a vibrant city, especially when the sun shines.
“Creating a menu for such a fun, food setting has been great – and we’re looking forward to bringing our bold, street-food flavours to Thor’s with subtle nods to my award-winning restaurants.”

There’s plenty more food choices too. Yuzu, known for their bold flavours and crowd-pleasing corn dogs – complete with the best cheese pull in York – return this summer.
And a new addition for 2025 sees Thor’s join with York On A Fork’s Ben Thorpe to launch a rotating street food cabin, bringing a constantly evolving menu to Parliament Street.
Each visit promises something new, with surprise vendors and menus popping up all summer long.
Director at Thor’s Amanda Monaghan said: “Thor’s has always been about bringing people together in amazing spaces – and this summer on Parliament Street, we really wanted to dial things up.
“The food offering is something we’re incredibly excited about, and working with Tommy Banks and his team has been a real milestone for us.
“Alongside a whole mix of street food talent, great drinks and our signature Thor’s party atmosphere – it’s shaping up to be our best summer yet. Full of flavour, fun, and unforgettable memories.”
There’s entertainment too, from DJs and live bands throughout the summer. Thor’s runs until 25 August.
