Floral tributes have been left after a 17-year-old boy died when his motorbike crashed into a lamppost in York.
It happened last night (Thursday) on Foxwood Lane at about 7.40pm.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The rider and motorcycle – a silver BMW – left the road and collided with a lamppost.
“Sadly, and despite resuscitation attempts at the scene, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Flowers have been left on Foxwood Lane.
One has a card reading: “Love always, Mam, Dad, Diesel. We never thought today we would be writing this. We love you all the world, my boy, and more.”
Another says: “I will always love you Meylie, my heart’s broken, Diesel.”
A third says: “Gonna miss your cheeky smile and your banta. Forever loved.”
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called to the incident last night, landing on Chesney Fields.
Foxwood Lane was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the crash and for collision investigators to examine the scene. It reopened at around 6am today.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the motorcyclist travelling along Foxwood Lane from the direction of Askham Lane prior to the incident, to get in touch.
They are also appealing to anyone who has dashcam or private CCTV footage of the motorcycle before the crash, or of the collision.
