A group of travellers have set up camp on playing fields in York.
They arrived on the fields, south of York College, yesterday (Saturday).
According to Stephen Fenton, the Lib Dem ward councillor for Dringhouses and Woodthorpe, they most likely “gained access via the gate next to the changing room block on Sim Balk Lane”.
He has informed the council’s neighbourhood enforcement team
Cllr Fenton added: “I’m told that the travellers will be issued with a ‘Direction to Leave’ notice as soon as council officers can get in front of a magistrate on Monday morning.”
