It was branded ‘your dog’s new favourite place’ when it opened just over two years ago.
And the owners of York Dog Park at Knapton have lived up to that promise!
It has just been named Dog Field Of The Year for North Yorkshire in the British awards.
York Dog Park defeated more than 20 other parks to take the title, won in a public vote.
It was the lockdown project of two dog owners – Laura Harland and Rebecca Robson.
After opening in August 2021, it soon became popular with dogs and their owners. Last year, the park also introduced York’s first doggercise classes.

Laura and Rebecca told YorkMix: “We are honored to be named North Yorkshire’s dog park of the year.
“Our park provides a safe haven for dog owners to walk, socialise and train their beloved pets.
“This award is especially meaningful considering the outstanding dog parks in the area. We are proud to have created a vibrant doggy community and are grateful for our wonderful customers.
“Their support and loyalty are truly appreciated.”
Runner-up was 5 Acres Canine Field in Northallerton, with Hopewell Dog Park, Knaresborough coming third.
As North Yorkshire’s winner, York Dog Park will go on to represent our area in The British Dog Field of the Year final in December.
