Firefighters from three fire stations were called to a fire in a York house this afternoon (Tuesday).
Crews from York, Acomb and Huntington responded to reports of a roof fire at a semi-detached home in Lidgett Grove at 12.50pm.
The occupants of the house were out when firefighters arrived.
People in the next door house had also left the building.
A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said: “On arrival the occupants of the affected property and the adjoining home had all evacuated.
“Crews entered using breathing apparatus under rapid deployment to prevent fire spread.”
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
The aerial ladder platform was used to expose roof tiles and check for hotspots.
