Three-day horror festival taking over York cinema – with slasher shorts and a world movie premiere
Fright fans, this one’s for you.
A three-day horror festival, featuring everything from slasher shorts, classic features and a movie premiere, is coming to York.
Dead Northern takes over City Screen Picturehouse from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 September.
The event will feature over 50 films, Q & As from guest filmmakers, a ghost tour – and will be topped off with an exclusive VIP party.
This will be the second Dead Northern film festival, the first taking place last year in Harrogate.
The festival aims to “find obscure venues, pick a horror theme and create one of a kind experiences”.
Frights old and new
The three-day takeover will feature classic horror films such as From Dusk Till Dawn and An American Werewolf in London, as well as more recent scares like Followers.
Billed as a world premiere, Wyvern Hill – the story of one woman’s struggle with reality as a series of brutal murders rock an English county – is screened on the Friday.
There are also tens of short films showing which have been submitted under themes such as ‘Thriller’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘Creature’ and more.
The Saturday will see a From Dusk till Dawn themed VIP party, and the festival will be rounded off with a live ghost tour of York.
There are three ticket types that start from £35: Day Pass, Screen Pass, and VIP Festival Pass.
All ticket types will get you into the showings at City Screen, and some ticket types will include extras like merchandise, raffle entries and more.
