Two York sisters star in a brand new music video which has just been released.
Elin and Tammy Hullis, from the Nunnery Lane area of the city, were at Mike Peters and the Alarm’s annual Gathering weekend in Llandudno this January.
They were both asked to appear in the video for charity single Now, which is raising funds and awareness for the Love Hope Strength Foundation.
Elin said: “I was thrilled to be asked to appear in the video to promote the amazing work the Love Hope Strength foundation does.
“The song is amazing and it would be great if everyone could download it to make as much money for the charity as possible.”
Rock and roll and hope
Alarm frontman and three times cancer survivor Mike Peters co-founded the Love Hope Strength Foundation in 2007.
The charity encourages everyone to sign up for the International Bone Marrow Registry.
As well as Steve ‘Smiley’ Barnard and James Stevenson, The Alarm’s drummer and guitarist respectively, the charity single features Matt Peach.
“The Alarm have been one of my favourite bands all my life,” says Matt. ‘So it’s been an incredible experience to create a song with two of my favourite all time musicians.”
Love Hope Strength is dedicated to saving lives one concert at a time. Their mission is to provide quality cancer care in places where it is needed most, a marrow donor if necessary and most importantly, hope.
The music video for Now aims to raise awareness for the charity and its mission.
It features many LHS volunteers, and potential donors, whose work at gigs and festivals have already signed up over 150,000 music lovers to the international bone marrow donor list.
This list has already found 2,500 potentially life saving matches.
All the profits from the track will be donated to the Love Hope Strength foundation.
Tammy, who is signed up to the bone marrow registry list, said: “It is amazing to think that you could potentially save a life by giving a simple cheek swab.
“If you are a potential match then new non-invasive, pain-free techniques enable donors to give without having their own lives interrupted or disturbed.”
Tammy and Elin both help run the Nunnery Area Residents Association, the community group for residents.
